Stefano Boeri, architect and urban planner, is Professor of Urban Planning at Politecnico di Milano and heads the Future City Lab at Tongji University in Shanghai, a post-doctoral research programme that anticipates the mutation of planetary metropolises, from the biodiversity and urban forestry perspective.

From Sydney’s One Central Park towers to Milan’s Vertical Forest, sustainable architectures are springing up all around the globe. They tackle climate change, thanks to plants and trees, absorbing CO2 and fine dusts, increasing biodiversity thanks to birds that nest in it, decreasing the heat island effect and improving energy efficiency.
The success of this architectural prototype inspired Stefano Boeri Architetti generating, within the Urban Forestry research of the studio, a project for a Forest City, with one million plants and self-sufficient through a combination of solar and geothermal energy.
